Updating a home from the 80’s
With plenty of space to work with, we transformed this 4-bed, 3-bath tutor from the inside out to help harness its full potential—and curb appeal.
Let there be light
Perhaps the biggest opportunity to transform this tutor hinged on enhancing the light it already had. To do so, we started by introducing a new material language, elevating the interior by removing the dated wallpaper, dark paneling, wainscoting, and vintage-style trim. We then removed unnecessary built-ins and obtrusive walls to open up the interior.
From the floor up
To give the home a more cohesive and luminous feel, we updated the floors from a hodgepodge of tiles and different colored carpets—replacing it with a custom wide set hardwood floor and modern tiling in the bathroom spaces.
Open concept kitchen
We transformed a cramped kitchen into an open space where there is plenty of room to cook, gather, and entertain. In addition to changing the layout, we also enhanced the space with custom cabinets, new light fixtures, and a new island to provide additional counter space and storage for a more functional kitchen. And to tie it all together, we hand-selected new countertops to ensure a cohesive look-and-feel throughout the home.
Elevating the bathrooms
As a 3-bathroom house, each one makes a considerable difference for the overall experience of the home. That’s why we overhauled each one to spacious, contemporary oases—including new layouts, walk-in showers, custom vanities, updated tilework, and much more.
